... is nobody rating the tournaments?
Rating is good for:
- the designer to knwo if (s)he is on the right path
- Sparticus to promote maps to "official" level
- first-entry in a tournament to see how the map is appriciated. I wouldn't start a lowly rated map... would you?
It's a nice feature. Please use it!
Thanks,

Ya, i wish more would rate the tournaments. It was a lot of work to set up. Eventually I'd like to be able to showcase the top tournaments and be able to sort by tournament ratings... but if people don't vote then that can't happen. |

I rate just about every time. The only times I don't is when I am pissed off and would just rate it badly to let out my frustration. And even tho i'm mad I can think not to do that as it would ruin the votes. But later I usually come back to try and get a better score and rate it XD. |

i as well have rated most of the tourneys that i have played. i try to play them a few times so i give them a fair rating and not a first impression rating. so sometimes it is the second or third time that the tourney has come up that i am rating it (not the second or third time i try it.)
on a personal level i get a little frustrated with the random mob (memorization) tourneys where you have to play it many many many times just to learn the pattern of the mobs and which mobs come unsuspected and kill you without preparing for them.
i try to rate those on different merits as i'm sure the variety is enjoyed by some players.
edit: some levels are too hard and some levels are too easy. perhaps a change should be made to the description "not bad, but not overly challenging." perhaps something like "not bad, but difficulty needs adjusting" or something that could reflect it being too hard or too easy like the others. |

I agree, sometimes I don't rate (or am not sure how to rate) because the pop-up balloon description doesn't match the way I feel. One tourney in particular really pissed me off; it was hard, yes; but I didn't want to give it a high rating if that meant "gosh what fun", as opposed what I was feeling which was "eff-ing pain in the ass". |

@ landronn: i know exactly what you mean by 'have to memorize the waves'. many of them are made by me ;) because i could rate the standard wave tournaments as 'no fun at all' o.O ...i played too much... then i rate only the design of those stantard maps
i had lowest rankings in 2 of my best balanced maps where you had to solve that riddle, what setup could possibly stand.
funny...
in some cases it's more helpful to leave a short comment, but in general the rating is cool.
my advice is to rate personel maps more generous than official ones.
dont give too much to the description, you know yourself what balance of stars you'd expect for a certain map. don't think, rate (and perhaps correct it later) |

In my opinion rating system is too complex. It should have 5 stars for each option instead of 10 and no description for stars. Its obvious: 1 star = crappy, 5 stars = great. Simple, fast, easy. |

...or 10 exp for every map rated AND played (since many have 'too much' gps) |

I believe, this is still an issue, since maybe one out of every four maps I create, gets rated. I've even tried to rate it myself, to see if that helps, before anyone has tried the map out, and not really any better. I really enjoy making maps, but would like feedback and/or at least a rating on each design I create.
Could you try a mandatory rating system on only non-official maps for a few days, just to try it out, but I wouldn't want it to scare people away from playing or from the site. |

I'm open to ideas to get people to vote. I could make it give away geek points or exp for voting.... but i'd hate to see people just randomly vote on every map to get the free stuff.
It shouldn't be mandatory... but somehow make them actually want to vote |

maybe give players a 1% score bonus on tourneys they rate. It would encourage voting whilst not loading players with free stuff |
