Hey all,
There is a chance I'll be re-writing BTGTD from scratch (not in flash but html5). I'll also be redesigning the site to make it more modern and much better (currently it's very difficult for new users to find the game).
If I were to do this, what features would you like to see? What things do you not like and wish were gone? What features on the website would you like to see?
Examples :
- I'd like new towers
- I'd like an achievement system
- Larger map

Hi Sparticus
ooooh, sounds like a buffet :D
just a few ideas:
- new towers (but not necessarily automaticly applied to all existing maps):
a) slow poison-rockets
b) slow close range heavy damage single shot
c) slow single shot parasite deals poison damage but expires quickly (transfers to nearest creep upon death of host if effect still active, thereby resets poison timer)
d) radar tower (rotating laser beam) upgrading extends radius) splits creeps into 2, 1/2 hp each
e) place a mine, single use (cost and damage dependent on nr. of wave)
- new power ups:
a) irritation (makes creeps go random directions for 5(?) sec), cheaper than freeze ... not the best idea though
b) cannibal mind control (highest acive wave eats neaby creeps, one by one, gaining 1/2 their hp) for a few sec
- i'd prefer a multi-map-tournament option over bigger maps, but bigger maps also sound nice

i don't know how feasable that is, but a 2nd kind of wall unit would be interesting, one that you can destroy pixel by pixel for gold and/or power up points.
also towers with different sizes (smaller ones would be non-upgradeable due to visualisation, those upgrade-dots would have no space) |

A few suggestions:
1. Streamline a new user experience. Jump them into an "easy" mode map and get them to start playing the game without having to create an account. At the end of their first game, prompt a message for them to create an account if they want to keep track of their stats etc.
2. More uses for GP - Couple ideas:
A) Give everyone one chance at the end of everygame to continue playing if they lost all their lives without reaching to the end. Once per map to limit the P2W aspect but gives people a reason to save up GP and spend it to have a chance to earn a higher score
B) Maybe new Cosmetic items that doesn't require a lot of coding to implement - Simple wallpaper changes for maps as an example.
3. Achievements - Not a stat tracker but some sort of milestone challenge when completed gives you bonus GP
4. New towers would be nice!

as sort of replacement for the weekly turnament, a option to start a own "special" tournament for 50 golden tickets, with the same extra xp and gp reward as the weekly gave.
oh, and a flying creep would be awesome! :D |

Ya, I want to bring back the weekly tournament.... but make it better. And I've always wanted flying creeps... just not sure how to make it work as sometimes the starts and exits are very close to each other. If it could fly over the walls you'd have little time to kill them. |

oh, i first didnt read poperly that you'd rewrite the game...
so my point about golden tickets becomes obsolete anyway.
to your point about flying creeps:
maybe the solution will be to not include flying creeps into the standard wave rotation. if we will be able to create maps again, people will quickly figure out not to put entrance/exit too close together, to make it fun. maybe set their default speed close to minimum, and/or their hp relatively low. |

Oh, what are your thoughts on adding in target priority for towers? Like Hit closest enemies or hit enemies with lowest HP for a couple of examples. |

Ya, that's a good idea. Might add that. Probably will default to attacking the enemy closest to the exit... and you can change it if you want. |

one thing that makes it a bit difficult for map makers, is to fine tune the difficulty without having faster upgrades working to test maps. i'm sure it'll be helpful to have that option for balancing harder maps more accurately |

hi. i really love this game. Therefore i prefer to not change the game at all. Please no new Towers or things like this.
A little adjustment in the game can make it completly different.
But new design of the Homepage could be nice. |

i know exactly what you mean jackre, but a 2nd kind of wall that you can destroy for gold or a flying creep for map making don't hurt nobody ;)
i do agree that the balancing can be easily thrown off by new towers, i like the current gameplay aswell.
bigger maps wouldn't throw that off either.
nor optional new creeps for custom maps (leave the standard rotation as it is) |
