Please explain what the hell these are, and how we earn them @.@

I spent quite a while searching around pages to try to figure out what these are or how to earn them, to no avail.

same here. id like to know more about the process of "leveling" and obtaining "gp"

GP = Geek Points

Geek points are earned the same way as earning experience.

Completing tournaments! The better score, the more geek points you get.

These geek points can be used to:

1. Buy in tournaments with a "Entry Fee"
2. Buy replays from other players to view their game
3. Make your OWN tournaments in the editor
and so on..

I understand that, but upon the completion of a map, I received 0 exp and 0 GP. Do the XP and GP accumulate upon the completion of the entire tournament, based on your score within that tournament, or are they supposed to happen immediately?

This is something I'll fix monday (today is my daughters birthday so I can't do it today, lol).

Experience and geek points are based on a scale. It compares you to the person that got the highest score in the tournament. If someone got a score of 50,000... and you got 25 points, it awards you nothing. I did that originally to prevent people from joining games and spamming the send next wave button till they die to get free exp/geek points. Looks like i'll have to adjust the scale by quite a bit. You should always get geek points and exp if you played in a tournament and actually gave it your best.

As Kilroy said already, geek points are used to do special things around the site such as buy replays, make your own tournaments, and buy tournaments with an entry fee. This is only the beginning because geek points will be used for much more later.

Experience points is just a way to show to others how good and how experienced you are in BTGTD. The better you do in tournaments the more exp you'll get. Many tournaments have restrictions based on level so experienced players cannot own new players in easy tournaments. Obviously right now the site is new so everyone is around level 1. That will change quite a bit in the next week.

Speaking of doing my best, I got 0 waves, 0 points on one tourney.... got 0 XP 0 GP.... got 1 waves 0 points and I got 1 GP 0 XP O.x

personnaly i have finshed first in a touranament , and have got nothing, then finshed 5 in a tournament and got 125gp and become lvl 2, i dont know if its normal but

You have to wait till the tournament is done before getting GP/EXP.
It will show up as 0GP/0EXP while the tournament is still running. After it's finished, you get the GP/EXP.
Just look at your profile, it says if a tournament you entered is still running or finished.

so the touranament whitout end will never give gp?

All tournaments will end eventually.... they either have a time limit, or player limit (or both). After they end the exp/gp are awarded.

I am reworking how exp/gp are awarded today. It seemed fine when I tested with 5 people.... with 30+ people in a tournament it's not working...

All people that made some effort should be awarded something...

That last sentence is key :) As you said before, you do not want people to start it, put down 1 tower, and spam the waves.
Maybe make it like at least 50 kills needed for XP/GP to be rewarded?
(Don't know how the algorithm is now ofcourse. If it looks only at score, or also at kills/time/damage)

Exactly... if you made an effort, you will be rewarded... even if you didn't do great.

People that join games, drop a tower, and spam waves will get nothing.

The way it's awarding exp/gp right now isn't working as I intended... hopefully will be fixed today (along with many other issues found).
